BEEC's Springtime Explorers
Vacation Camp is a great opportunity for children to learn more about nature
in Spring! The themes of each
day will be explored through outdoor learning excursions, hands-on activities,
games, crafts, stories and songs. Children should bring their own lunch, snack,
and water, and need to be prepared to be outside with appropriate clothing.
Monday: IN SEARCH OF SPRING
What clues can we find that tell us Spring
is here? As we venture
into thewilds of BEEC, we'll listen, look and learn to call for birds, hunt
for bugs, and chance upon wildflowers. We'll imagine what it's like to
be small and fashion a hike a ladybug might like.
Tuesday: WALKING WITH THE WILD ONES
Delight in discovering signs of our
wild neighbors and play games that mimic their springtime behaviors. Camouflage
into the forest green and use your senses to track a hidden friend unseen.
Wednesday: FAIRIES OF THE FOREST AND THEIR WEE
FOLK FRIENDS
Join us for a day of imagination and creativity. Frolic through
the woodlands, build fairy and gnome homes, and play games from ancient realms.
You are welcome to come dressed as your favorite magical creature.
Thursday: CUBS, KITS AND TINY CHICKS
Spring! The season of Babies. Mimic the antics of our wild neighbors,
both parent and babe while you play, "Feed the Chicks", "Camouflaged
Fawns" and "Coyote Pups." Joan's chicks might even come
for a visit!
Friday: VERNAL POOL PARTY
The spotted salamanders and wood frogs have come to their woodland pools
to lay eggs. We'll see their story through slides, and then venture up
to our pool in the forest to see the eggs for ourselves and find out who else
swims in the springtime waters.
