Springtime Explorers Vacation Camp 2010

Monday April 19 – Friday April 23, 2010
Sessions run from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
For Children in Grades 1-3

BEEC's Springtime Explorer's Vacation Camp is a great opportunity to learn more about nature, reunite with summer friends, and experience BEEC in the spring through outdoor excursions, hands-on activities, games, crafts, stories, and songs. Children should bring their own lunch, snacks, and water. Please bring rubber boots and a rain coat. Children must be prepared to be outside with appropriate clothing!

Monday: Vernal Pool Party
The spotted salamanders and wood frogs have returned to their woodland pool to lay eggs! Come discover these giant, mysterious puddles that appear each spring in our forest and meet the fascinating critters who use them.

Tuesday: Roots and Shoots
Explore the world of plants from the ground up, as we meet the early spring wildflowers and plants of Heifer Hill. By making hand cream and herbal teas we will learn the names and magic that each plant has to offer.

Wednesday: Fairies of the Forest
Let your imagination and creativity take over as we frolic through the woodlands, build fairy and gnome homes, and invent our own enchanted games. You are welcome to come dressed as your favorite magical creature.

Thursday: Celebrate Earth Day!
Discover ways to care for teh earth and learn how the earth takes care of us as we feast on locally grown foods, investigate some local plants and animals, explore our environment using our senses and get creative with recycling!

Friday: Nature Babies
Chicks, bunnies, lambs, fawns, calves, and colts… spring is surely the season of babies! Learn about these newborn animals and others through art, stories, songs, games and more.
