Winter Adventures Vacation Camp 2008
Monday, February 25 – Friday, February 29
Sessions run from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Cost per day: $30/member, $35/Nonmember
BEEC's Winter Adventures Vacation Camp is a great opportunity for children
in grades 2-4 to learn more about nature in winter! Join us for one day or
the whole week. The themes of each day will be explored through outdoor excursions,
hands-on activities, games, crafts, stories, and songs. Children should bring
their own lunch, snacks and water, sled if they have one, and should be prepared
to be outside with appropriate clothing.

Monday: Fur, Fat, Feathers, or Flee
Explore how animals prepare and adapt to winter through hands-on games focused
on the four strategies. Mimic migrating like a monarch, hibernating like a
brown bat, sleeping and waking like a chipmunk, and staying active like a red
fox.
Tuesday: In Search of Where the Wild Things Are
Every track, every sign tells of a mystery wanting to be solved. Become a nature
detective, ferreting out clues to where the wild things go in winter.
Wednesday: Shelter Building for Winter Survival
A winter survival scenario gets our imaginations flowing! We'll make snow shelters,
one match fires, and learn to meet our basic survival needs.
Thursday: Predator!
Venture into the wintertime forest, exploring the lives of BEEC's predators.
Learn more about the habits and adaptations of foxes, fishers, coyotes, and
owls.
Friday: Frolicking Fairies & Fabulous Friends
Explore a winter wonderland! Fashion fairy homes, design edible art for wildlife,
create otter slides, and play in the magical world of Snow.
These sessions are based on snowy conditions. If we do not have snow at BEEC
we will provide other wonderful outdoor adventures for our campers.
