Amphibian Forecast

Amphibian migration takes place:

Between late March and late April
When the ground  has thawed
Temperatures are near or above 40° F
It is raining or very wet
At night

Note: Later in the season, amphibians may migrate if conditions are damp.

Upcoming Possibilities

Saturday, April 26: rain in the morning and late afternoon could get the late amphibians moving. How many amphibians still need to cross? That is an unknown. There has been some rain in the wee hours so it is possible that most amphibians have made it to the pools and that there will be more migration heading back to the forest. If conditions are wet in your area on Saturday night, we expect there will be amphibians in need of assistance, and we’d love to get your reports, especially if you get out and don’t see any amphibians.
